Epic Spring Snow

Last weekend J and had an absolutely delightful day on the slopes at Eikedalen - about an hour from our house. The sun was shining, the longest chairlift in northern Europe (about 2kms straight up) was operating, and all was right with the world. The view from the top was truly breathtaking...

I had decided to change the bindings on the snowboard so as to try tackling going down the mountain goofy (right foot forward). I just felt like this would be a more comfortable stance and I was pumped to try it!

At first it felt completely different and it took me a while to just get used to moving the board while strapped to it in the opposite direction. There were sections of the run that were just perfect for my practicing though - soft powder, gentle incline, not another person in sight. Sooooo good! But there was also one section, cutting across from the powder back down to join the main track, where things got a bit hairy.

The first time I slid most of the way down on my arse but after a couple of times I found a way to scoot along the face of it for the most part, easing my way down. And the view on the way down was so stunning that I never minded stoping to take a break and look around. J just wanted to go straight down! We now recognise we have different approaches to the mountain and don't try and do every run together. It was so much fun for me just playing up there that day, we both really enjoyed ourselves and feel a little more addicted to the sport each time! With spring in the air here in Bergen now though, I am not sure for how much longer we will still have our weekends away at Eikedalen.

So as it might be last time, here are some photos from the drive home. Starting at the carpark...

On through one of the many tunnels we pass through along the way...

Past one of my favourite little spots, a little village by a fjord surrounded by mountains, with an old shack perched on a small island in the middle of the water...

Finally, just some of the general scenery...

Lots of sweet spring kisses to all...xxx

Once again it would seem that it is just me doing any bloody work. While you are off boarding, Liesl is going to the races and where is your poor (literally) brother, oh that's right he is studing his arse off. Looks awsome all the same!!!
